Alan Lim

Introduction

Alan has six years’ experience in business improvement and line management. He has worked across many industries, from engineering services, manufacturing and airlines. Prior to joining Partners in Performance, Alan spent his time at Singapore Airlines in Airport Operations, E-commerce and the Business Transformation department.

A career in the airline industry cemented his love of travel. He has also worked in China, Hong Kong and the Philippines, but his own adventures have also taken him around the globe. As memories of his travels, he has a practice of acquiring postcards from every city he visits - a collection to which he’s still adding. And the destination he could never forget? Turkey, where the collision of history, culture and natural beauty left an everlasting impression. Alan is always up for a challenge - his next being learning to play the saxophone. The first step, he says though, is to find a sound-proof room to practice.

  • Fast-growing international Southeast Asian airline, business improvement: Reduced offloading incidents in cargo operations due to poor planning by 50% by reconfiguring organisational wiring through cascaded accountability meetings. Established a new business improvement team for the client to lead the change and developed their capability within three months.
  • Specialist manufacturer, sales force effectiveness: Identified CNY20m in sales revenues improvement through better pricing and distributor management strategies, as well as increasing the time allocated to sales by each salesperson.
  • Global professional engineering services firm, business improvement: Identified USD10m in EBITDA improvement opportunity through improved sales force effectiveness, streamlining internal operations and reducing cost of money borrowed by reducing days receivable outstanding (DRO).
  • Large international airline, sales force effectiveness: Increased sales revenue by USD15m through improved sales force effectiveness and streamlining the structure of the sales offices across the network.

Education

Alan’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Economics (Honours) from University College London, UK; and a Master of Science in Financial and Managerial Economics from HEC Paris, France.
