Amelia Brown


Amelia joined Partners in Performance in early 2017 after graduating from the University of Sydney. She has over two years’ consulting experience including cost reduction, productivity improvement, and strategy. Prior to joining, she has a range of experience working across banking, consulting, and engineering with Macquarie Bank, 180 Degrees Consulting and the Colgar Wind Farm.  She has delivered high-quality analysis across this variety of industries.

Career snapshot

  • Cost reduction for IT department of a major retailed: Identified ~$9m of opportunity to reduce costs from a $30m cost base in a 4-week engagement. Comprised of right-sizing management, front line and organisational structure plus significant process efficiency improvements.
  • Overhead reduction optimisation for large beverage supplier: Delivered $50m savings (annualised) during an accelerated 4-month engagement. Optimised and right-sized the management operations, reducing staff count by more than 200 FTE without impacting key activities.
  • Cost reduction and continuous improvement for a major dairy producer: Developed a $30m pipeline to be delivered over 24 months. Wired and implemented a continuous improvement programme at the main manufacturing site, providing $10m cash flowing benefits (annualised) with a further $20m to hit the bottom line over the following 18 months.
  • Commercial Due Diligence in the beauty/NIMA industry: Analysed asset and competitor footprint and market share, competitive position, expansion opportunities, new market opportunities and regulatory conditions for a private equity company looking to acquire a new asset.
  • Justice system reform: Mobilised a major cross-agency Justice system reform driving significant end-to-end process change. Coordinated multiple agencies to develop budgetary processes, detailed program timelines and reporting structures. Led the operating model workstream to analyse current and future state processes, model capital requirements for major technology changes, and develop core KPIs to effectively measure the impact of the reform.
  • PMO establishment and wiring (state department, housing): Worked with stakeholders in all parts of the business to establish a PMO for an in-flight multi-million dollar infrastructure reform. Implemented operating rhythm and wiring, including workplanning, daily standups and Results-Actions-Reviews across eight work streams.
  • Digital Portfolio Strategy (Federal Government, Service Delivery): Worked with senior executives to create a set of 10 ‘transformational outcomes’ with associated baselines and targets that were agreed and endorsed by the client’s executive committee. In additional, delivered on the job training in Agile approaches and governance to a team of 12.
  • Business analysis in a retail bank: Investigated, documented and detailed business requirements for a banking regeneration programme. Provided support to all stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • Business strategy for a non-profit: Led a team to complete feasibility studies on five social business strategies for funding a non-profit agency. Developed scope and timeline and managed delivery to provide ongoing client satisfaction.
  • Biomedical engineering research and development: Developed and manufactured sensor for detection of hydration using salivary markers, including testing and proving both efficacy and the market feasibility.
  • Power forecasting for a renewable energy company: Developed comprehensive model to demonstrate and forecast wind farm power production.


Amelia’s qualifications include a double major honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry from the University of Sydney.
