Daniel Salazar


Daniel has 13 years of experience driving successful and sustainable change in Australia and South America. He has led negotiations in different parts of the world such as New York, London, Paris, Milan, Singapore and Shanghai. He has worked across many industries, including mining, construction, pharmaceutical, professional services, FMCG and manufacturing. Prior to joining Partners in Performance, Daniel held logistics and operations leadership roles in Australia. He has seven years of consulting experience. Daniel’s interests include running, travelling and photography.

  • Services – process optimisation: Identification and implementation of changes that reduced invoicing and accounts receivable processes’ lead times by 28%, enabling the client to grow without having to hire additional headcount in the accounts team.
  • Mining – organisational design: Leader of an engagement that identified a 14% reduction in headcount across all the mine operations with savings of US$2.5m p.a. in salaries and associated cost.
  • Underground tin mining – strategic sourcing: Delivered US$1.1m p.a. cost reduction (33%) in raise boring contract by improving utilisation rate, right-sizing the equipment fleet, sourcing the service, and negotiating rates with a new supplier.
  • Mining contractor, negotiation: Delivered US$2.1m p.a. (27%) cost reduction in a contract negotiation with a long-term mining contractor, improving labour efficiencies, improving labour and equipment utilisation rates, aligning unit cost to market standards, and implementing new processes to contain unnecessary ad-hoc spend.
  • Mineral exploration, procurement: Identified US$2-3m p.a. (23%-34%) cost reduction opportunity in exploration diamond drilling by consolidating sites’ volume, rationalising supplier base and negotiating new rates, and eliminating additional charges from price agreement.
  • Business process outsourcing (BPO) – strategic sourcing: Led the strategic sourcing and due diligence activities for a BPO of finance and accounting, ITS and HR in a large professional services Australian firm, delivering over 18% of cost reduction.
